Since Friendship Friday 2005, the money you raised has been supporting projects like these:

A mobile library in rural Punjab Province, Pakistan
The library bus visits 40 schools a month, reaching approximately 4,000 to 5,000 students. As well as books, the library has a multimedia system for showing films and a craft instructor who carries out art and craft activities with the children.

“People in the village always ask us about the bus. We tell them it is a great library bus that brings us so many nice storybooks, the books increase our knowledge. If the bus stops coming to our school we would have to go very far to get these kinds of books.”
Mohammed, age 12

“I really like this library because the bus brings us lots of good stories. I also enjoy making the paper bags and today I made a file. When I take these things home my parents like it.”
Nida, age 8

Five education centres in Hyderabad, India
These centres provide education for children who have missed out on school, mostly because they have to work or help look after younger siblings. Children spend about a year at the centres to catch up on their education before moving on to mainstream schools.

"I go to a government school. I have been there for one year. Before that I went to the education centre. I’d like to go to college and I’d like to become a teacher, so that I can teach other children what I have learned.”
Shabena, age 15

A working children’s education centre in Dhaka, Bangladesh
The centre works with children between eight and 15 years. It is open from Saturday to Thursday between 1pm and 3pm so children are able to come even though they have to work during the rest of the day. The children learn Bangla, English and maths as well as drawing, singing and storytelling and on Thursday it’s play day.

"I have been coming to the centre for two years… they teach us in a fun way… We also get to play which is good. Before I could not read but after coming to this centre I can.”
Fateema, age 12
