An exciting new web based initiative
School Link has been developed for primary school children and teachers who would like to learn more about the lives of children in other countries. It is not a direct link but provides an excellent insight into life in another part of the world.
Through the activities and materials on this site, pupils will be able to learn about the children in countries where Save the Children works. The first schools to be profiled are in rural farming communities in the Punjab province of Pakistan or Yunnan Province in Southern China. Children can learn about these schools, the communities, the children who live there and the country they live in.
The resource is free, all that is required is that schools participate in a brand new national fundraising event, Friendship Friday where children can participate to make a difference to the lives of other children like those that they have been learning about.
Simply click on the Friendship Friday button on the left to find out more!

Pupils from schools that sign up to School Link will have access to:
- Real life stories written by children, about their everyday lives, what they do, what they like and what they think.
- Interactive games
- Facts about and photographs from Pakistan and China
- Information about Friendship Friday and other ways to raise money for Save the Children
Teachers will have access to:
- Downloadable lesson plans developed by experienced teachers
- Creative methods for teaching upper primary curriculum subjects: Citizenship, PSHE, ICT, Geography and Literacy (Environmental Studies, ICT and Education for Citizenship - Scotland curriculum equivalents)
- Downloadable worksheets to support lesson plans
- A resource to teach children about the similarities and differences of children in another part of the world
- Extra background information on the country and issues faced in that country.
School Link provides all the resources needed through the website. Due to the number of UK schools involved, we are unable to create direct links with the representative schools but we hope that children will enjoy learning about the schools through the information and activities provided. We will keep the website updated in order to reflect any changes in the lives of the schools featured by School Link.
